Our power amps echo some classic, timeless designs but structurally (topology), they go far beyond those.
The core of our amplifiers has been perfected through decades of structural and sonic optimization processes.
Employing calibrated measurement systems as well as our unique sonical development process, we have eventually
managed to create amplification that has achieved sonic performance in accordance with our expectations.
No objective and subjective parameter was left out in the designing process. It is our firm belief our amps
represent a unique statement in the state of the art high end audio department - sonically and visually.
Our amplifier designer Andrej Lakner has more than 35 years of experience in designing amplifier circuits and
has explored most of the well known topologies in depth. Ubiqaudiolab amplifiers are using his breakthrough
technology which offers scalable power from 100W to 1200W at 8 Ohms, all based on the same VCCF core topology
with a unique Voltage Controlled Current Feedback design. Once our power modules are connected in full-balanced
mode as monoblocks, the real magic happens. This is something that was already observed and confirmed by
Dan Agostino, Ed Meitner and many other top amplification designers.
Igor Kante's history in audio dates back to 1985 when he developed his first KBS power amplifier. This was
followed by establishing UBIQ Audio in 1989 and the development of the UBIQ Power Amp in 1992.
The Equsite monoblocks
represent our current cost no object approach in the state-of-the-art amplification department. Together with our preamp, these monoblocks will provide an astonishing insight into every, even the most demanding, musical performance. Ubiquitus monoblock has a nominal power rating of 1200W/8 oHms and uses a 6 kW switching mode power supply unit and a capacitor bank of 450.000 micro Farad for energy storage which provides a non-exhaustible energy reserve.Designed for the most serious and demanding musical aficionados.
Power amplifier technical details
The modules have enormous open loop gain of more than 130 dB and frequency response ranging from DC to 2 MHz/-3 dB.
Slew-rate presents in hundreds of volts in micro second, step response has fully symmetrical rise and fall times in 160 nano seconds, with no ringing present. Measuring square wave signal in frequency domain shows monotonically descending harmonic structure with no frequency peaking, meaning no harmonic component is higher than previous one. The last observable harmonic component rising from the noise level is at around 20 MHz.
All our amps exhibit a ruler flat clipping characteristic with no unwanted step responses or phase reversal anomalies.
One of our major concerns in the overall topology is to not have any memory distortion effects present in any part of the circuit, especially not in the gain stages. This means that there is constant power dissipation on every active element, thus no matter circumstances ensuring constant gain and frequency characteristics.
According to our experience the presence of memory distortion effects is the main reason for muddled, non transparent amplifier sound. We have put a lot of attention to common mode noise rejection in our amplifiers, enhancing it with special common mode chokes.
The Ubiquitus monoblocks use no output relays. UbiqCube on the other hand, because of its very compact First One CC amplifier module, uses solid state output relay with no more than 1 milli Ohm on-state resistance, meaning there is no degradation over time and regardless of switching cycles, the resistance stays constant.
All amps except Ubicube have peak power meter. The Ubiquitus Extreme monoblock has a peak power meter response span of 74 dB, enabling observation of really small level signals as well as keeping an oversight of the overall sound pressure levels.
All power amps use JFET input stage and have purely resistive 100 kOhm input impedance, which makes them compatible with a wide array of preamps including tube based ones.
